Meet Raegan
Hello! When I graduated from a community college in the Spring of 2019, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I had taken so many classes from Chemistry to New Testament Religion to Economics and felt more lost than ever. I thought I wanted to major in business since I had a small (emphasis on small) tee-shirt line, Captivated Apparel, that I started when I was sixteen and still in high school. I fooled everyone, including myself. I thought I had it all figured out… until I realized I didn’t. I will always have an entrepreneurial spirit, but I knew that I needed to pursue a career in education. My mom and grandmother were both teachers, and I swore I would never be one, yet here we are! (I also said that about having a tee-shirt line since my parents quit their full-time jobs to start their own business, Sassy Frass Tees.) The photo below features me at the America’s Mart in Atlanta where I had a booth set up for Captivated Apparel. Ah, the good old days. Since I took a semester off from school in the Fall of 2019, I worked for my parents and tried to figure out what I wanted to do. I knew I loved English, and I loved school. I went back and talked to one of my favorite English professors, and I realized that I knew I wanted to teach.
During my time in college, I have tried to look up blogs, resources, and other outlets that could provide some insight, tips, or anything that could help me during my time as an Education major in English Language Arts. I came up short. There are several teacher blogs that I still refer to and that I think are great! However, I think there should be information for the gap between graduating high school and becoming a teacher. That is where I come in! I hope this blog can provide something helpful for those who stumble into my corner of the world.
